Melania fires back: Let's talk about my trip, 'not what I wear'

The First Lady's visit to Africa has offered up a softer side of the Trump administration, which is facing a critical vote on the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court on Friday.

"I think he's highly qualified for the supreme court", she said while visiting the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Sphinx.

Melania Trump has said she often disagrees with what her husband tweets and she tells him so - but he doesn't listen.

"That's very important what I do, what we're doing with USA aid, and what I do with my initiatives, and I wish people would focus on what I do, not what I wear", she said, per the Associated Press.

At the end of her solo trip to Africa, Melania Trump spoke to reporters in Egypt about numerous topics outside of her fashion choices.

Jason Burke explains in The Guardian that 19th century European explorers and imperial administrators in Africa, parts of Asia and the Middle East wore pith helmets, which were later incorporated into the uniforms of colonial military officers. She started her tour by arriving in Ghana earlier this week.

She then moved to the presidential palace where she met with Mr. Sissi.

Now back in Washington, it is unconfirmed what is next on the First Lady's agenda.
