Kavanaugh Accuser Christine Blasey Ford To Testify Thursday

A second woman has come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against Brett Kavanaugh, President Donald Trump's embattled nominee for the Supreme Court.

Democrats called for the FBI to investigate Ms Ford's claims, a request that was unlikely to be met as President Donald Trump and Senate Republicans have said it is unnecessary. The New Yorker doesn't provide any quotations from Ramirez's initial uncertain remarks about Kavanaugh, but reports that she took "six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney" before detailing her 35-year-old allegation. However, he has already suggested Ford's claims are false, tweeting that if they did happen, she would have "immediately" gone to the police.

But the lawyers say the Republican-controlled Senate panel hasn't said who will be asking questions of Ford and Kavanaugh.

A woman who attended Yale with Brett Kavanaugh is accusing him of sexual assault. "This 35-year-old, uncorroborated claim is the latest in a coordinated smear campaign by the Democrats, created to tear down a good man", White House Spokesperson Kerri Kupec said.

Kavanaugh, who strongly denies the allegation, said he wishes to testify as soon as possible to clear his name following Ford's claims that he attacked her at a 1980s high school party.

"In a statement, two of those male classmates who Ramirez alleged were involved in the incident, the wife of a third male student she said was involved, and three other classmates, Dino Ewing, Louisa Garry, and Dan Murphy, disputed Ramirez's account of events..."

"This came to the attention of people on the hill independently and it's really cornered her into an awkward position", Farrow told "Good Morning America" on Monday.

'This went 36 years without a complaint, ' he said in the interview with Rivera, according to The New York Times. The person said Kavanaugh would also appear. But after consultation with a lawyer, Ramirez told the magazine she felt confident enough in her recollection that it happened.

Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh seen Tue., Sept. 4, 2018, in Washington, D.C.

"Despite actual threats to her safety and her life, Dr. Ford believes it is important for senators to hear directly from her about the sexual assault committed against her", Ford's attorneys Debra Katz, Lisa Banks and Michael Bromwich said in a statement.

Both of Kavanaugh's accusers, Deborah Ramirez and Christine Blasey Ford, are reported to have told people after the alleged incidents occurred.

The White House remained firmly behind Kavanaugh Monday and planned an aggressive defense, said a White House official not authorized to speak publicly, who stressed the lack of corroborating evidence. "That doesn't seem like Brett Kavanaugh".

"This is another serious, credible, and disturbing allegation against Brett Kavanaugh".

In an email exchange between the committee and Ford's lawyers obtained by The Associated Press, a counsel for Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley wrote that the terms over which witnesses to call and questioning are "non-negotiable". The counsel said it was the committee's "non-negotiable" right to determine who would be allowed to testify.

Defections among Republicans would likely block his path to the Supreme Court.

Ramirez says she grew increasingly intoxicated as the game wore on, and that eventually one of the young men exposed himself to her.
