Moonves wanted to ruin Janet Jackson's career after nip-slip

According to the HuffPo, the whole thing was over that unfortunate moment when Justin Timberlake tore a piece of fabric from Jackson's costume exposing a bit too much to a worldwide audience in 2004.

CBS declined to comment on HuffPost's report.

Following the incident, the CBS chief reportedly banned the two performers from the 2004 Grammys broadcast airing on the network a week later. According to a new report, CBS executive Les Moonves was so enraged and embarrassed that he allegedly attempted to destroy Janet Jackson's career.

The 2004 Super Bowl halftime performance by Jackson and Justin Timberlake is still remembered after the former's breast was exposed for a mere fraction of a second when the latter pulled her bustier. Simon & Schuster is owned by Viacom.

Gordon Weakens Over Central Mississippi, Florence Becomes Major Hurricane
Dominic Carlucci drove back to his home on the barrier island in his Hummer, and found no damage, just a sagging wooden fence. The heaviest rain from Gordon will be from the northern Gulf Coast to parts of Arkansas, and will last through Thursday .

Sources also told Huffington Post that Moonves was still angry at Jackson seven years after the Super Bowl event.

The incident drew a torrent of criticism from America's pearl-clutchers, who were just scandalized at the revelation that women have nipples, and earned CBS a $550,000 fine from the Federal Communications Commission. According to Huff Post's sources, Timberlake was later allowed by Moonves after he apologized for the incident tearfully. Jackson, on the other hand, was apparently not as remorseful as Timberlake, which stirred Moonves' animosity towards her.

Moonves was allegedly furious that Jackson did not offer a similar apology and ordered properties at Viacom, which was the parent company of CBS at the time, to stop playing the singer's music. He vowed to another source that heads would roll as a result but it's unclear if any ever did. "How the fuck did she slip through?" one source recalls Mooves saying. The fallout from the incident inflicted significant damage on Jackson's career ― which until that point had produced 10 No. 1 hits ― and still reverberates to this day.

Moonves is reportedly in settlement talks to leave CBS, with the board offering around $100 million amid an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against him. Moonves is now facing sexual harassment allegations.
