Colin Kaepernick visits Nike for 'Just Do It' 30th anniversary celebration

Tiger Woods said on Friday that the Nike commercial narrated by National Football League quarterback Colin Kaepernick was "something that's special" but added he did not know the company was producing the advert.

The deal spurred debate among fans, with some urging a boycott of the Beaverton, Oregon-based company and others burning their Nike clothing.

Speaking from the BMW Championship, Woods says Nike is "trying to get out ahead" and "do something special".

"If people say your dreams are insane, if they laugh at what you think you can do: good, stay that way", Kaepernick begins.

"I definitely feel like Nike knew exactly what they were doing when they put this ad out, when they chose to use Colin Kaepernick as their spokesperson", said Courtney Reese. "In the meanwhile, let us honor true heroes, those who protect us daily, some even sacrificing their own lives".

The ad is powerful, and it caused even more controversy, with those against his form of protest claiming they would boycott Nike.

Bob Dorfman, a sports marketing executive at Baker Street Advertising, told Bloomberg that Nike did not take any financial risk making Kaepernick the face of the campaign.

"What was Nike thinking?".

The brand's stock initially fell more than 3 percent following the announcement of their endorsement deal with Kaepernick, who was the first NFL player to protest racial inequality and police brutality by taking a knee during the national anthem before games. President Donald Trump tweeted this week about the athletic gear's partnership with Kaepernick. "It's not about protesting the national anthem, and we're bringing light to that".

James, who has been an outspoken critic of Trump, has shared on social media both an image of Kaepernick from the campaign and the two-minute ad.

The National Black Police Association responded with a press release stating the FOP doesn't speak for all police officers, particularly the black rank and file.
