Colin Kaepernick leads Nike's 30th anniversary 'Just Do It' ad campaign

Kaepernick, who began kneeling in protest of racial injustice during the USA national anthem in August of 2016, is entering a second National Football League season without being on a team roster. Now, he's the face of Nike's 30th anniversary "Just Do It" campaign.

No team signed Kaepernick as a free agent in 2017 after he opted out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers, and the 30-year-old has since sued NFL owners for colluding to keep him out of the league.

Not unexpectedly, the ad also also sparked more negative reactions from various folks online; all you need to do is go through Kaepernick's mentions to get a glimpse at some of those responses.

The campaign comes on the heels of a decision by an arbitrator to let Kaepernick take his grievance with the National Football League to trial.

The #NFL season will start this week, unfortunately once again @Kaepernick7 is not on a NFL roster.

"Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything", reads one of the ads with Kaepernick's face on it. Seahawks LB Shaquem Griffin is one of five other athletes featured in the campaign.

The advert comes just days after Kaepernick was cheered by spectators when he appeared alongside fellow player and activist Eric Reid at the US Open tennis tournament to watch Serena Williams on Friday.
