Ostapenko fumes after early exit

Venus Williams crashed to a straight-sets defeat in the opening round, losing 6-4 7-5 to China's Qiang Wang on Court Suzanne-Lenglen.

After a stellar 2017 season, during which she reached the Australian Open and Wimbledon finals and the US Open semifinals, Williams has now lost two consecutive first-round grand slam matches for the first time in her long career.

She was cleared of a doping charge by an independent tribunal earlier this month. It should be noted that Ostapenko acted very "dirty", allowing for the first batch of unimaginable 29 unforced errors.

Kozlova is ranked 67th and has never beaten a Top 30 player. It is the first time in 78 Grand Slam appearances stretching back to 1997 that Venus Williams has lost successive first-round matches at a major event.
