Service dog gives birth to puppies at Florida airport

A service dog waiting for a flight to Philadelphia with her owner gave birth at the Tampa airport as travelers gathered around and watched.

Ellie's owner was right by her side as the two-year-old Labrador retriever gave birth unexpectedly to a litter of eight, include seven male puppies and one female puppy.

Paramedics were at the airport and assisted with the delivery. The father of the puppies - a dog named Golden Nugget - was also present at the scene of the delivery.

The team documented the birth on Twitter, using the hashtag #AirportPuppies.

This is not something you expect to see when going to the airport. "That's all", said Diane Van Atter, owner of Ellie the service dog.

Daniel Ricciardo storms to dominant pole position at Monaco Grand Prix
Meanwhile, McLaren's Stoffel Vandoorne will be starting 12th after being the sixth fastest in the initial runs. Poor Ricciardo's loss of power a third of the way through the race was simply brutal for him.

Van Atter said she knew her dog was pregnant, but they did not know how close to giving birth she was.

It was hard to control the father of the puppies during the delivery.

Ellie was all set to board her flight to Philadelphia when she got waylaid with a more pressing matter.

"All of sudden, she started shaking and her tail went up". The family, puppies and all, will be driving to Philadelphia instead, about 1,000 miles.
