Defending Masters Champion Sergio Garcia Puts Five Straight Shots In the Water

No one has won back-to-back Masters since 2002, when Tiger Woods won the third of his four green jackets.

The 14-time Major champion has carded a one over par 73 to now lie five shots off the pace being set by American Tony Finau and Jordan Spieth.

But on five straight shots, Garcia's ball landed in the water.

Sergio Garcia went full Tin Cup at The Masters on hole 15 today.

His 13 matched the highest score in Masters history. The previous worst was 11, by three players - Jumbo Ozaki in 1987, Ben Crenshaw in 1998 and Ignacio Garrido in 1999.

With his 10th shot of the 15th hole, Sergio Garcia delivered his fifth consecutive ball into the water.

The nightmare 15th led to Garcia carding a nine-over 81, leaving him in a tie for 85th place, a whopping 15 shots behind the 18-hole leader, Jordan Spieth.

In the end, he finished the hole with a 13, tying the worst score ever on a single hole at Augusta.

Tom Weiskopf made a 13 at the par-three 12th in 1980, while Tsuneyuki Nakajima posted the same score on the 13th hole two years earlier.
