Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to get Oreo update this month

As per a report by SamMobile citing details revealed by the well-known research analyst at KGI Securities, Ming-Chi Kuo, this is not going to be the case.

While it seemed in-display fingerprint sensors were the future of smartphone biometrics for a while, Kuo says that Apple's iPhone X has made Android manufacturers more interested in advanced 3D-sensing facial recognition. In October of a year ago, we wrote up a report that the Galaxy Note 9 may have this fingerprint tech, but that leads us to today's latest news... It will break down the launch period and to redesign the phone from the scratch will require more men power and technicians at the same time.

There have been rumours and leaks for some time now that have suggested the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 would be the company's first to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.

In-display fingerprint scanners are quite new.

Launched on Sunday in Barcelona, Spain, the smartphones were described by Samsung as having been "built for the way we communicate today".

According to analysers, nearly all the Android smartphone makers would love to improve their Face Scanning feature instead of adding the in-display Fingerprint Scanner which unnecessarily increases the pricing of the product.

An embedded fingerprint scanner that reads your prints through the display has been rumored to come to Samsung's Galaxy phones for awhile.

The report notes that, while a pilot production run is likely to take place early next year, the Galaxy Note 9 likely will make its official debut in early to mid-August next year.
