Winter Storm Quinn: Where Is It, When Will It Hit?

Wednesday morning, energy transfers from the primary low to a developing coastal low east of the Delmarva Peninsula.

THURSDAY: Snow ending early in the morning.

Lastly, he said the main impact will be to the Wednesday evening commute.

Forecasters caution that if the line between rain and snow shifts, snowfall totals could change dramatically. There is a lot to follow in this forecast and we will stay ahead of it for you! For now, I will lean on that climatology for where I like the higher totals to pile up.

Winds: Winds will gust up to 25-35 miles an hour (instead of 50-60 mph in our last storm).

Some coastal communities in MA are bringing in heavy equipment to clear sand, rocks, downed trees and other debris that were left blocking waterfront neighborhoods after last week's storm. Early next week, another nor'easter was/is possible... but latest model runs keep it offshore (so bears watching).

Overall, today is going to be a nice day!

NY is expected to receive up to 10 inches of snow and Philadelphia is forecast to see 3 inches to 6 inches. It could be as far west as the New Jersey/Pennsylvania border, or as far east as western Long Island. The storm will develop near the coast of Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia tomorrow morning. The heaviest snow will be Monday afternoon and evening.

The worst of the storm is expected to target portions of northeast New Jersey, southern CT and southeast NY.

After a high of 42 degrees on Tuesday, Accuweather is predicting the low will drop to 31 overnight, with a high of 37 during the day Wednesday. Low: Upper 20s - low 30s. Heavy snow and strong winds are making travel almost impossible on most highways in eastern South Dakota.

As of Monday, some residents are still without power from the storm last Friday. While usually winds of this magnitude don't usually cause power outages, they might be an issue from the combination of wet snow and gusty winds. Thursday will be windy and partly cloudy with a high temperature of 42 in the city, low 40s in the suburbs. Snow should begin tonight with slushy accumulations by dawn Wednesday.

In short, expect both rain and snow to fall. About the only big unknown with this storm is where the rain/snow line will eventually reach.
