Sean Miller doesn't coach against Oregon; Deandre Ayton cleared to play

The decision comes following an ESPN report released Friday that Federal Bureau of Investigation wiretaps recorded Miller allegedly discussing a $100,000 payment with an agent to ensure current freshman Deandre Ayton came to Tucson. Ayton was in the lineup, with the school saying in a statement he remains eligible to play.

During a broadcast of the Oregon State game against Arizona State on Saturday night, the broadcast team broke the false news that Arizona men's basketball coach Sean Miller had been fired. "Not a shred of evidence has been adduced suggesting otherwise, which federal investigators and the NCAA officials have acknowledged".

This afternoon, attorney Paul Kelly, who is handling Arizona's internal investigation, released a lengthy statement regarding Ayton.

Rose said Ayton's decision to commit to the Wildcats was based on "family ties to Phoenix" as well as his familiarity with the program and the area; he previously played at Hillcrest Prep Academy in Phoenix.

Paul Kelly is the Boston attorney hired as outside counsel for the University of Arizona to investigate the FBI matter.

"I believe it is in the best interests of our team that I not coach the game tonight".

Ayton, a 7-foot-1 center who was born in the Bahamas, eventually committed to Arizona and has since become one of the nation's best players, averaging 19.6 points and 10.9 rebounds and considered a high-lottery pick in this year's National Basketball Association draft. The projected top pick in the upcoming National Basketball Association draft had 17 points and 11 rebounds at halftime, and one play he had in the first half was particularly ridiculous.
