Rose McGowan Breaks Silence on Death of Former Manager

In a statement to ET on Thursday, Messick's family was critical of both Weinstein and McGowan, saying, in part: "Jill was victimized by our new culture of unlimited information sharing and a willingness to accept statement as fact".

Rose McGowan posted on social media for the first time since Jill Messick tragically committed suicide, but the 44-year-old's post had nothing to do with her ex-manager's death.

As previously reported, Weinstein's attorney, Ben Brafman, gave Us Weekly a statement in January denying the sexual assault allegations made by McGowan against his client, and he included quotes from Messick.

Messick, 50, was McGowan's manager in 1997, the year McGowan told The New York Times in an article published in October that Weinstein raped her. McGowan told the Times she informed her manager about the attack shortly after it occurred. Another simply asked if she's aware of what's going on: "Er, have you checked the news Rose?". In her Instagram post she simply referred to him as "the bad man". May you find serenity with the stars.

In an Instagram post, the actress said she wished Messick's family "solace". They added that Jill "became collateral damage in an already horrific story".

The Hollywood Reporter reports that studio executive and producer, Jill Messick has died from suicide on Wednesday.

In their statement, Messick's family said she was "the first person who stood up on Rose's behalf" and "alerted her bosses to the horrific experience which Rose suffered".

Weinstein's lawyers used an email from Messick in his defense last month.

McGowan's message today made no mention of the Messick family's accusations, and placed the cause of the damage directly on (the unnamed) Weinstein.

Her movie production credits include "She's All That", starring Freddie Prinze Jr, Mark Waters' "Mean Girls", art biopic "Frida", with Salma Hayek, and action film "Masterminds" with Zach Galifianakis, Kristen Wiig and Owen Wilson.

"Jill Messick was a mother of two children, a loving wife and partner, a dear friend to many and a smart entertainment executive".
