Good news for WCape as heavy rainfall is expected over the weekend

Cape Town residents have been urged to use as little water as possible, with the daily allocation set at 50 liters per person, and hotels have removed bath plugs and urged visitors to keep toilet flushing to a minimum.

The charming port city of Cape Town, South Africa has long had the distinction of being one of the world's top tourist destinations.

"We can not afford to lose momentum now - we must keep going".

"We can avoid that possibility if we manage the demand by adhering to the restrictions and ensuring that they apply particularly to the big water users".

Authorities want to reduce the city's consumption to 500 million litres a day - half the amount used two years ago.

Day zero is now forecast for 11 May, which is nearly a month later than the forecast of 16 April last week. "You would have to ask the mayor why she did not institute the Level 6 measures that I have driven and that were adopted by council".

"It is important for residents to understand that the allocation of water to agricultural users is determined exclusively by National Government".

The die-hard fan then asked if she could attend the game, but Henry-Parks claimed that they can't afford to accommodate the trip. The video had been viewed more than a million times as of Thursday, something Parks says has been "crazy to see".

The forecast comes as the province, and the city of Cape Town in particular, buckles under the drought, with severe water restrictions in place to preserve the last of the city's dwindling water resources.

The Western Cape, the Eastern Cape and the Northern Cape have already declared provincial disasters.

"Cape Town is not going to be the only city on this continent that's going to suffer significant water shortage", Jean-Pierre Labuschagne, an infrastructure expert with Deloitte, said at the launch of its Africa Construction Trends report. In November last year, the allocation for the year until October 2018 was 174,4 million cubic litres.

The negative impact of the water crisis was likely to extend to the overall growth of South Africa this year, said Old Mutual Investment Group economic strategist Rian Le Roux.

In the meantime, plans continue to bring more water into the city's system through a combination of temporary desalination plants and aquifers, with people in the city restricted to 50l of water per person per day.

Cape Town - With just about every shop in Cape Town selling more bottled water, concerns have been raised about what will happen to all the empty plastic bottles. But the party insisted that a further 97 million litres of water per day needed to be saved to avoid "Day Zero" - when the residential water supply is turned off.

Maimane said he was confident the City can defeat Day Zero and thanked residents for assisting in "creative and inspiring ways".
