Judge to rule if Assange can walk free from embassy

A judge ruled the 2012 warrant must stand, meaning Assange is still subject to arrest outside the walls of the embassy.

She said that whistleblower had committed an offence under the Bail Act by refusing to surrender to bail and must explain why he failed to do so.

That ruling will be issued on February 13 at 1400 GMT.

Julian Assange has been living in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London since 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden over sexual assault charges, which he has denied.

Assange's lawyers went to court last month to argue that the British warrant serves no objective because he is no longer wanted for questioning in Sweden over alleged sex offences.

Assange has been at the embassy for six years.

In December, Assange was granted Ecuadorean citizenship after applying for it months earlier.

In 2016, a United Nations panel called on Swedish and British authorities to end Assange's "deprivation of liberty".

Super Bowl 52 postgame quotes: Bill Belichick
Due to the unusual circumstances surrounding Butler's absence during the Super Bowl the Texans will need to tread lightly. If that is true, we have come up with a theory for the delay: The Hoodie had been busy sabotaging his own game plan.

The 46-year-old feared he would be extradited to the U.S. if he was taken to Sweden after his whistleblowing website published thousands of classified USA documents detailing the country's diplomatic and military activities in 2010.

Donald Trump's newly appointed attorney general Jeff Sessions has declared the arrest of Assange a "priority".

Assange only very rarely emerges on the balcony of the embassy building, citing concerns for his personal safety, but frequently takes part in media conferences and campaigns via video link.

Sweden dropped the rape case against him, but the Brits still want to take Assange to court for breaching the conditions of his bail.

But London swiftly rejected the move.

Assange faces arrest if he leaves the embassy, where he has been holed up for five and a half years.

Assange has strained the patience of his hosts during his long stay.

More recently, he drew the ire of Ecuadoran President Lenin Moreno when he used Twitter to issue messages of support for Catalonia's independence drive.
