Australian men and women through to Day 3's finals at Sydney Sevens

Fiji captain Jerry Tuwai said, "It was such a fast match but then we knew it would be against New Zealand".

She was over inside the first minute and crossed twice late on against Fiji as England ran in five tries, to take her tally to nine for the tournament.

Australia will meet Spain again in Saturday's quarterfinals while the United States will play Russia, New Zealand will meet Ireland and Canada will play France.

All quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals are scheduled for tomorrow.

"When we needed to tackle, we tackled, but (we just said) just get back to your feet and reload, put the pressure on them in our defensive structures and get in off the line and let them make the error rather than us trying to solve the problem".

They have a pair of pools matches still to come today, against Canada and Scotland, which will determine where they wind up in the quarter-finals draw.

Fiji added to their impressive day one victory and remain unbeaten as they progress out of Pool A alongside New Zealand.

England and South Africa both secured places in the Cup quarter-finals from Pool C.

Day two of the HSBC Sydney Sevens Men's tournament saw the completion of round robin Pool play with the four pool winners and the runners-up qualifying for the Cup quarter-finals on day three. This set up a mouth-watering pool decider.

It reversed Australia's 31-14 loss to the USA in the most recent World Series leg in Cape Town and puts them in the box seat to top their group after Saturday's games against Canada and Scotland.

That win saw England secure a ninth place ranking at the Sydney 7s as James Bailey's side continue to build on earlier performances this season. Scotland's earlier 12-26 loss to the U.S. dampened their momentum after a flying day one.

Australia has blazed its way into this afternoon's semi-final against Russian Federation without conceding a point while Cherry and Friedrichs have helped themselves to a combined total of five tries in the preliminary matches.
