President Trump pushes back against chief of staff over border wall

President Trump said on Thursday that his vision of a border divider with Mexico has "never changed or evolved", pushing back individually head of staff's remarks amid a shut door meeting with officials.

Kelly on Wednesday also told Fox News that Trump's position on certain issues such as protecting immigrants brought to the US illegally as children and his much ballyhooed border wall have "evolved".

At odds with his own chief of staff, President Trump tweeted early Thursday morning to say that his promises about the proposed wall along the U.S. -Mexico border remained unchanged.

Kelly repeatedly said that Trump supports enacting permanent legal protections for "dreamers", people brought to the country illegally as children or who overstayed their visas as children, and that he has helped the president evolve on immigration policy, according to people there. We need the Wall to help stop the massive inflow of drugs from Mexico, now rated the number one most unsafe country in the world.

Kelly, during an appearance on Fox News's "Special Report", was asked by anchor Bret Baier, "What does the president need to see on chain migration to bless a DACA deal?"

The meeting was one of several yesterday between members of the administration and Congress as they scramble to agree on a bill to address the status of the 690,000 young unauthorized immigrants facing the loss of their deportation protections under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

The president also confirmed the wall would be paid for by Mexico either "directly or indirectly, or through longer term reimbursement".

NBA Takes New Measures to Enhance its Latest Mobile View Feature
Last season, the service garnered 26.7 million views in over 1.2 billion minutes, up by over ten percent from the last season. Additionally, the onsite camera operator will communicate via intercom with the Secaucus producer, and no one else.

But of more immediate concern is Trump's comments that a deal can't pass without a wall.

Yet Trump continued to make "uninformed" comments on the wall Thursday, suggesting that it was necessary to stop drugs from entering the country - adding, "if there is no wall, there is no deal!"

"Campaigning is very different from governing", said Mr Kelly on Wednesday.

In a tweet, Times Trump-whisperer Maggie Haberman notes that the president's "annoyance" with Kelly has been growing, noting the low morale in the Kelly era.

In a final flourish two hours later, Trump fell back on his campaign theme on the wall, saying it was needed to stop the inflow of drugs from Mexico, which he called the "No. 1 most unsafe country in the world".

With federal funding expiring at midnight on Friday, Congress was facing a growing possibility of a government shutdown.

There has been no clear indication Trump is completely unhappy with Kelly, or that he would dismiss a chief of staff for the second time in less than one year in office.
