Arkansas AD Jeff Long fired, report says

Update: Arkansas confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that athletic director Jeff Long will not be returning.

Long is known for firing Razorback football coach Bobby Petrino after an alleged extramarital affair with a former Arkansas volleyball player. Arkansas is 4-6, and 1-5 in SEC play this season. However, over the past year, Jeff has lost the support of many of our fans, alumni, key supporters, and members of the university leadership, support that I believe is critical in our pursuit of excellence.

According to KARK Fox 16 in Arkansas, which cited unidentified sources, the decision came Wednesday, although no formal announcement has been made.

Long then hired current coach Bret Bielema in 2013.

Morocco and Tunisia qualify for 'Arab-flavoured' football World Cup
DR Congo scored twice in stoppage time through Jonathan Bolingi and Neeskens Kebano to defeat Guinea 3-1 in Kinshasa. Both teams needed a point to qualify for the global soccer phenomenon which will be hosted by Russian Federation .

Long has been involved with the CFP committee for several years. "Everything he stands for, everything he tries to give them on the field, off the field". Bielema was hired in 2012 and has gone 29-32 with the Razorbacks including just 11-27 in the SEC. "It's been awesome to witness". Demirel said Long was a driving force behind a $160 million expansion to Fayetteville's Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. However, after improving Arkansas' win total in his second and third seasons, the Razorbacks have struggled mightily since the end of last season - losing eight of their last 12 games.

Long had previously been athletic director at Pitt and held the same post at Eastern Kentucky.

Associate Vice Chancellor for Athletics and Senior Associate Athletics Director Julie Cromer Peoples will serve as interim director of athletics while the university forms a search committee for Long's replacement.
