US Appeals Court rules against Elliott, six-game suspension back on

The U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday blocked the NFL Players Association's request for an injunction that would have kept Elliott on the field while the legal battle with the NFL played out.

The Elliott suspension has been weaving through the courts since he was ordered in August to serve the ban for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Still, here was are in November and Elliott has yet to miss a single game through the first nine weeks of the regular season.

Dallas (5-3), on a three-game winning streak with significant contributions from Elliott, visits defending NFC champion Atlanta (4-4) on Sunday.

Due to Thursday's verdict, Elliott's suspension will be reinstated by the league immediately, with an official transaction notice from the NFL expected soon.

Elliott will now miss games against the Falcons, Eagles, Chargers, Redskins, Giants, and Raiders. Dallas won't see the return of Elliott in the backfield until Christmas Eve when America's Team takes on Russell Wilson's Seattle Seahawks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. He's also had three receptions for 96 yards and another score.

The Cowboys running back's appeal will be heard on an expedited basis, but the suspension is on in the meantime.
