Trump Chief of Staff John Kelly Declares He's 'Not Quitting Today'

I would offer, though, it is not the best job I ever had.

There have been reports that Kelly is unhappy in the job as Trump's legislative agenda stalls and the president continues to picks fights with everyone from senators to National Football League players to a mayor in hurricate-hit Puerto Rico.

When asked about Trump's feud with Tennessee Republican Senator Bob Corker, Kelly noted that "when members of Congress say things that are unfair or critical, the president has a right to defend himself".

Kelly said all that isn't true - and that he's not planning on leaving his position or about to be fired, despite the rumors of tension.

Later, Kelly said his "only frustration, with all due respect to everyone in the room, is when I come to work in the morning and read about things I allegedly said, or things that Mr. Trump allegedly said, or people who are going to be fired or whatever". Most reporting nowadays is done through text messaging, where staffers use writers to turn office politics into blockbuster spectacle.

Being President Donald Trump's chief of staff "is the hardest job I've ever had", he said, adding, "in my view it's the most important job I've ever had".

"I have found that Mr. Trump, from the day I met him, is a decisive guy, he's a very thoughtful man, I should say, ' Kelly reassured the press that the president only the day before slammed as "fake news" while labeling it 'disgusting" that the press 'is able to write whatever they want'.

One of the men protecting the US from "chaos", in the provocative words of Republican Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker, surprised reporters on Thursday by conducting the White House's daily news briefing himself.

"Is this the iron hand that I brought to the staff?" the former Marine general said, with apparent sarcasm. His appearance followed recent reports that he's unhappy in his job and has considered leaving.

"This is really, really hard work, running the United States of America", Kelly said. He has been frustrated in particular with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who was reported last week to have earlier called the president a 'moron.'. The best job I ever had, as I said, is when I was an enlisted Marine sergeant infantryman.

John Kelly speaks during a press conference. The chief of staff did so with a smile and a salute.
