Amber Alert Issued for Richardson Child

Police in Richardson, Texas said on Saturday that they arrested Wesley Mathews after his daughter Sherin Mathews went missing.

When he went outside about 15 minutes later, the girl was gone, the affidavit said.

Police weren't called to the home until some five hours after the child was last seen, according to Sgt. Kevin Perlich. Police believe she is in grave and immediate danger. They described her as 36 inches tall, 22 pounds, and suffering from "from developmental issues and has limited verbal communication skills".

Mathews sent his daughter Sherin Mathews to the alley at 3am, according to an arrest warrant affidavit released Sunday, because the girl refused to drink her milk. His bond was set at $250,000, KXAS reported.

She was last seen wearing a pink top, black pajama bottoms. Mathews told investigators it wasn't unusual for the girl to wake up late at night to eat so that her weight would increase, Perlich said.

Mathews and his wife adopted Sherin two years from an orphanage in India, NBC 5 reports. Sherin Matthews disappeared early yesterday morning. They also have towed the family vehicle to search for evidence.

The three-year-old has black hair and brown eyes.

He named a number of agencies who are involved in the search along with local law enforcement, including the FBI, Texas Rangers, The Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and forensic specialists.
