Florida doesn't want OJ Simpson when he's released from prison

Simpson was convicted of stealing sports memorabilia during a botched heist which took place in a Las Vegas hotel room.

In July, Simpson was granted parole after serving almost nine years behind bars.

Simpson, a former pro football star turned actor and TV pitchman, was found not guilty in 1995 following his sensational, 13-month trial in Los Angeles, which was televised live daily, transfixing much of the nation.

Simpson's best friend Tom Scotto told The News last week that the onetime gridiron great was eager for release.

"We needed to do this to ensure public safety and to avoid any possible incident", she told CBS News by telephone.

When he was granted parole, officials set October 1 as the earliest possible date for his release.

Other than having property in Florida, Simpson would like to move to Florida so that he would be exempt from having to shell out his National Football League pension money to the the Goldberg family stemming from the wrongful death lawsuit dating back to his double murder trial from the 1990's.

US Defence Secy. Jim Mattis to visit India next week
India also recently agreed to expand its support for Afghan defense forces, which includes training of Afghan army personnel. These engagements will continue", Sitharaman told Mattis, but "there shall be no boots on the ground in Afghanistan".

While out of prison, Simpson upon his release is expected to be barred from consuming alcohol in large quantities or hang out with ex-convicts which is in accordance to The Nevada Board of Parole rules.

Neither Simpson's attorney, Malcolm LaVergne in Las Vegas, nor state Parole and Probation Captain Shawn Arruti, who has been handling Simpson's case, immediately responded to messages.

A civil court jury subsequently found him liable for the deaths and ordered him to pay US$33.5 million in damages to the victims' families, a judgment that remains largely unpaid. The spokeswoman explained that he was released at midnight to avoid media flurry.

The Nevada Department of Corrections released an image and video of Simpson on Facebook, signing documents and leaving Lovelock Correctional Center early on Sunday.

Florida corrections officials have said in the past that they must accept the transfer if Nevada's request meets the established criteria.

Simpson hopes to return to Florida, as his two youngest children Sydney and Justin live in the Tampa Bay area.

Once Simpson is released, Nevada DOC will have a 72-hour window to let him out which will start on Sunday.
