Donald Trump rules out North Korea talks

DONALD Trump heightened fears of a nuclear showdown with North Korea after tweeting "talking is not the answer" to dealing with the regime.

A frustrated Trump took to Twitter to condemn Pyongyang, saying "the U.S. has been talking to North Korea, and paying them extortion money, for 25 years".

This came a day after President Donald Trump declared that "talking is not the answer" on North Korea. Trump said in a Twitter post.

"All options are on the table", Trump said in a statement.

The North's official KCNA news agency said the allies" "military nexus" had become a "serious threat" to the Korean peninsula and Japan was "unaware" it was "accelerating self-destruction'.

Tuesday's missile overflight triggered consternation in world capitals and on the ground, with sirens blaring out and text message alerts being sent in Japan warning people to take cover.

After having briefly tamped-down its incendiary comments, Kim Jong Un's state-run media said North Korea's missile launch this week over Japan was only a prelude to an imminent strike on Guam, which is a major US military stronghold.

"I made clear how strongly the United Kingdom condemns the launch", Mr Field said.

Trump's strident rhetoric comes despite former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon's acknowledgement shortly before he left the Trump administration that there's no military solution to the North Korea crisis.

He previously has warned that "all options are on the table" when it comes to North Korea, which shows no sign of giving up its nuclear program, despite global sanctions and U.N. Security Council resolutions.

Tensions have risen this year with Pyongyang test-launching over a dozen ballistic missiles. The missile test rattled a region increasingly concerned about North Korea's fast-advancing missile capabilities and its increasingly bold way of demonstrating them.

Initial assessment indicates the North Korean missile was an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM), the Pentagon said in a statement. The B-1Bs were flown in from Andersen Air Force Base in Guam while the F-35s came from a US base in Iwakuni, Japan, an official from South Korea's Defense Ministry told the Associated Press.

"We absolutely do not tolerate the nuclear and missile development by North Korea". That has happened despite further worldwide sanctions aimed at squeezing Kim's economy. "All options are on the table", he said.
