Sony's Xperia XA1 Plus brings 23MP camera, 5.5-inch screen

Like clockwork, another IFA means another batch of new Sony phones to check out. The old three piece construction found on the XZ and XZs has been replaced by a new unibody two piece setup on the XZ1.

The Xperia XZ1 is the true flagship over the predecessor the XZ and XZs.

As the name suggests, the Sony Xperia XZ1 has a lot to do with last year's Xperia XZ and the recently-released Xperia XZ Premium, which has yet to enter Kenyan space. "It has a 5.2" FHD IPS LCD display with HDR capabilities. Sony hasn't packed in more battery, trusting its parsimonious power management and a 2700mAh li-ion pack.

Speaking of local variants, most markets will get 4GB of RAM on the XA1 Plus, except for South America and the United States, which get the 3GB model. The Xperia XZ1 succeeds the Xperia XZs and XZ, while the Xperia XZ1 Compact takes over from 2016's Xperia X Compact. Both come with a 19-megapixel sensor and features Predictive Capture, super slow motion 720p video at 960 frames-per-second and 4K resolution video recording.

The resolution may have dropped from previous devices but the 19Mp rear camera has larger pixels so can perform better in low light.

Apart from this, the company showcased a new 3D Creator feature. There are four scan modes-head scan, face scan, food scan, and freeform scan-which produce a 3D image that can be shared online or sent to a 3D printer. You can get great-looking shots in nearly any conditions with Sony's Superior Auto Mode, while full manual controls are also on offer. The designs are pretty similar too, and Sony has shunned this year's smartphone trend of banishing the bezels from the front of the device. Plus the built in Digital Noise Cancelling (DNC) technology reduces exterior noise by up to 98% when paired with DNC headphones for undisturbed listening.

Blade Runner Short Bridges the Gap Between Original and Sequel
Serving as a prequel, the five-minute video takes place 13 years (2036) before Blade Runner 2049 and takes place in Los Angeles. Nexus Dawn , a new short film directed by Ridley Scott's son Luke Scott , answers at least part of that question.

Customer data stolen at games store Cex
The company said the stolen data included customers' names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers and some old credit card information.

So there is no IP certificate, but there is NFC, USB-C 2.0, Bluetooth 4.2 and of course the beloved 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers. As compare to Xperia XA1, XA1 Plus has a huge screen.

The Xperia XZ1 comes with a 5.2-inch full HD display protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

What about internals? The flagship includes a Snapdragon 835 processor, as well as 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Exactly the same specs as its bigger brother. Wrapping up the premium design are four new colors, each inspired by natural light and the lovely arrival of the changing tones as morning arrives; Moonlit Blue, Venus Pink, Warm Silver, and our classic Black.

With such a small screen size, the Xperia XZ1 Compact is the only smartphone on the market with such massive raw power.

Sony announced two smartphones at the IFA 2017, Berlin, tech event - the Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact - which sport a new design and are going to be one of the first Sony devices to receive the Android Oreo update.

Its 5.5-inch FHD display is for those who want something bigger than the XA1 but smaller than the XA1 Ultra.
