China Urges India to Stop Trying Its Patience Amid Ongoing Border Crisis

Earlier on Friday, MEA said that the Indian Government remains committed to ensure the security of its citizens and territory and will continue to engage with the Chinese side through diplomatic channels to find a mutually acceptable solution.

Beijing, which views Doklam - or as it calls it "Donglang" - a part of Chinese territory, has accused India of breaching an internationally recognized border.

He also said that Beijing would inform New Delhi before the Chinese side takes up the operation.

The Defence Ministry of China has urged India to immediately withdraw its troops to the Indian side of the boundary, as the military stand-off in the Doklam region drags on.

The tone of the Chinese government and its media have become shriller over the past few days, with its Defence Ministry telling India not to test its patience. "This is by no means for peace".

Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj had, on Thursday, said in the Rajya Sabha that India has taken efforts to ease the stand-off with China.

"The statement by the Chinese foreign ministry is clear so I will refrain from speaking on that".

Beijing emphasizes that the intervention Indian troops made on June 18 to prevent Chinese construction workers from expanding a road on the disputed ridge is without precedent.

"The Modi government should stop lying to its people that 'India in 2017 is different from India in 1962.' The gap in national strength between the two countries is the largest in the past 50 years".

In a statement, Geng said the action of the Indian side amounts to that of "irresponsibility and recklessness".

In a first direct reference to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state run Chinese media, Global Times has warned India of "obvious results" of war calling the Modi Administration "reckless" and "irresponsible".

"No matter how many Indian border troops illegally trespassed the boundary and still stay in the Chinese territory, it will not alter the nature of severely violating China's territorial integrity and contravening the UN Charter".

The minister also clarified that the standoff between India and China at the tri-junction area should not only be looked from only Doklam's perspective but also with regard to the bilateral relationships between the two countries.

It said there were still 40 Indian troop in Chinese territory, although the number has dropped from a peak of 400.

"The standoff has not been resolved because China and India see the incident from different perspectives".

Adding to the growing belligerence, Global Times said that the PLA was combat-ready but has exercised restraint as it "cherishes peace".
