Seth Rich family spokesman talks to WLS about FOX News lawsuit

The Fox News report, first aired in May but later retracted, attempted to tie Rich's unsolved killing to the leak of DNC emails to Wikileaks.

Wheeler alleges in his suit that a Fox News reporter, Malia Zimmerman, made up two quotes in the story and attributed them to him.

"The retraction of this story is still being investigated internally and we have no evidence that Rod Wheeler was misquoted by Zimmerman".

Wheeler alleges that Fox News and a wealthy Trump supporter wanted the conspiracy to take attention off of the growing probe by investigators into possible connections between Trump's presidential campaign and Russian Federation.

In an interview with NPR, which broke the story on the lawsuit, Spicer said that he met with Butowsky at the White House only because he was a supporter of the president.

While the motivations behind Rich's death are still unclear, Fox News promoted the idea of retribution, and after Donald Trump's presidential win in November, the story died.

The lawsuit also accuses Fox and Butowsky of working with the White House to concoct the conspiracy that Rich was actually killed as retaliation for leaking information.

Yahoo News reported Tuesday that attorney Douglas Wigdor, who is representing the investigator, Rod Wheeler, is seeking for Trump and Spicer deposed. The lawsuit included a photo of what Wheeler says is the text message.

Butowsky, the Dallas investor and Trump supporter now insists to NPR that he was just joking about the President pushing the story.

FDA to target addictive levels of nicotine in cigarettes
Marlboro maker Altria Group Inc . fell 10%, while British American Tobacco PLC, maker of Camel cigarettes, tumbled 8.5%. Cigarettes kill 480,000 people in the USA each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The White House and Fox's motivation to push the false story was to "lift the cloud" of the Russian Federation investigation, Wheeler claims in the lawsuit.

Last year, 27-year-old DNC staffer Seth Rich was shot to death in what appeared to be an attempted robbery near his home. "But don't feel the pressure". "'I've never spoken to Trump in my life, ' he says". Not to mention a national news network willing to let the president read a story before it was published.

Butowsky told CNN's Chris Cuomo that when he met with Spicer about his findings, he did not tell the press secretary the objective of the meeting beforehand.

Butowsky did not immediately comment to CNBC for this article.

According to the suit, the article contained several fabricated quotes from Mr Wheeler, including one in which he said: "My investigation shows someone within the DC government, Democratic National Committee or Clinton team is blocking the murder investigation from going forward".

"A reporter making up quotes is a very serious allegation and I don't think it matches the sort of reporter she was in Hawaii", Moore said.

Wheeler says he met with Spicer and Butowsky in April, in the suit.

"It's not like I have a Steve Bannon teddy bear", Butowsky said in May. (Spicer confirmed the meeting with Butowsky to NPR.) At one point before the article was published, Butowsky allegedly told Wheeler in a text message: "Not to add any more pressure but the president just read the article. We were basically telling him you are doing a great job and that the president or the White House or somebody would be interested in meeting you".
