Firefighter cuts off snake's head after it latches onto woman's nose

In the background of the call, the dispatcher was recorded saying, "I've never heard of this before".

The terrified woman revealed the 5ft 5in snake had wrapped itself around her head and sunk its fangs into her nose.

"There's blood everywhere", a 45-year-old OH woman can be heard saying in the frantic 911 call, according to The Chronicle-Telegram.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was keeping the boa constrictor as a pet.

A firefighter cut off the snake's head with a pocket knife and the woman was taken by ambulance to a hospital for apparent non-life threatening injuries, reported the Elyria Star-Telegram.

She'd rescued the snake the day before. She was pleading, "There's blood everywhere!"

Usually when a 911 dispatcher gets a call, it's about a fall, abdominal pain, or an acute medical problem like a seizure.

"How many snakes do you have ma'am?" the dispatcher then asks.

It happened in the city of Sheffield Lake.

Rescuers arrived within minutes and found the woman lying in the bloodied driveway of her home, the snake holding tightly to her.

"I'm just really pleased with the paramedics response and you know the thought, to think that quick to take out a pocket knife". "They're all ball pythons except for these two I rescued".

The woman declined to be interviewed by news outlets.

Ed Skuza of E and J Reptile Shows & Rescue believes the woman handled the snake too soon and should have waited at least a week before bringing it out.
