Andy Murray Knocked Out of Wimbledon by Sam Querrey

Andy Murray will sit down with his team on Thursday to discuss what to do next after his Wimbledon title defence ended in a quarter-final loss to Sam Querrey.

A year after sending 2015 champion Novak Djokovic packing from the All England Club, Querrey hammered 27 aces and 70 winners past the hobbling Murray to power into his maiden grand slam semi-final with a 3-6 6-4 6-7 (7-4) 6-1 6-1 triumph.

The Croatian seventh seed beat American Sam Querrey in the last four on Friday to reach the final, where he will meet Federer who swept aside Tomas Berdych.

Djokovic had to quit quarter-finals against Tomas Berdych due to right elbow injury while he was trailing 7-6 (7/2), 2-0.

"There was nobody better in the past - I think he's the greatest of them all".

Federer defeated Berdych 7-6 7-6 6-4 in the second semi-finals. These two players have met each other many times in Dubai, Madrid masters, US Open, Wimbledon, Australia Open, Olympic Tennis, Halle, etc. "Probably the fact that I played yesterday, kind of days adding up, you know, as I've said before, it wasn't helping at all".

This is Federer's 11th entry into the Wimbledon final.

"I kind of felt like he pushed me around a little bit today", Querrey said.

"Last year I had a hard, hard time practicing through the clay-court season". Instead, Rafael Nadal was out-dueled in a fourth-round thriller, and Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic sputtered to quarterfinals losses in part because of injuries.

He has an 18-6 career record against Berdych, and has won their past seven matches, although the Czech claimed significant victories over Federer at the 2004 Olympics, 2010 Wimbledon and 2012 US Open. "I am motivated to go as far as I can". "The more I play, the worse it gets".

Federer will now play Berdych, and although he is the hot favourite, he is taking nothing for granted. Who will advance to the Wimbledon Finals?

Williams, the victor of a record 23 Grand Slam singles titles - 12 of which have come since Andy Roddick was the last United States man to make the semi-finals of a Slam at Wimbledon in 2009 - hailed Murray as a great champion of women's sport.
