Panamagate JIT to submit final report in Pak SC

According to sources familiar with the development, Prime Minister Sharif reiterated there would be no compromise on national security and that Pakistan remains committed to peace and stability in the region.

"Failure on the part of all respondents to produce the requisite information confirming "known sources of income" is [.] tantamount to not being able to justify assets and the means of income", read the conclusion of the report, a partial copy of which was obtained.

A three-judge special bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal, Justice Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijazul Ahsan will examine the final report and decide further course of action.

"The financial structure and health of companies in Pakistan having linkage to the Respondents also do no substantiate the wealth of the Respondents", it continued.

The court adjourned Monday's proceedings until July 17, when lawyers for both sides will be given a chance to present their arguments on the investigating team's findings.

Sharif, 67, who has denied money-laundering allegations against him and his family, today held consultations with his close aides after the report was filed with the court.

Earlier, speaking outside the ECP office, former PPP leader Senator Babar Awan, who recently joined PTI, objected against the "propaganda being created after the ECP's contempt of court notice to Imran Khan", saying that there was a big difference between the PTI chief and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. We say so as the Supreme Court will not only thoroughly look into the JIT reports but also hear reservations raised by the affected party.

The report alleged that there was "irregular movement of huge amounts in shape of loans and gifts" to Sharif's family and Pakistan Based companies from the companies based in Saudi Arabia, UAE and the UK. After accepting the JIT report, the Highest Court of Pakistan has ordered a FIR against Zafar Hijazi, for meddling records of the business of Sharif family.

The probe team consists of 6 officials from the National Accountability Bureau, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), State Bank of Pakistan, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI) headed by Director General FIA Wajid Zia.

The JIT questioned seven members of the Sharif family, including the prime minister. His younger brother appeared thrice.
