Sevilla captain Vicente Iborra agrees Leicester City move

LEICESTER City have agreed a deal to sign Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra for £12.3million.

The industrious midfielder was close to moving to England last season when Sunderland reportedly wanted to bring Iborra to the Stadium of Light and it looks like the 29-year-old could be set for a move to the British Isles after all.

It is thought that he will join up at the side later this week, with speculation still surfacing that Riyad Mahrez will be making a move out of the 2015/16 Premier League champions, with North London side Arsenal looming.

Iborra's arrival will mark the latest phase of a summer revamp of the Leicester squad by Craig Shakespeare, who was confirmed last month as the permanent successor to Claudio Ranieri as manager.

The club announced his departure on their website, subject to personal terms and a medical.

Iborra featured against the Foxes in the Champions League last season and his career achievements include winning three Europa League titles.

The statement read: "Sevilla and Leicester City have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Vicente Iborra".

"Once the medical is concluded, he will return to Seville to publicly bid farewell to the fans". Iborra has always shown an exemplary behavior and has earned the unanimous love and respect of all Sevillians.

Leicester's opening bid of £10.5million was rebuffed by the Spaniards but new boss Craig Shakespeare was determined to get his man and eventually upped his offer.
