Dennis Rodman: 'Everybody's going to be happy' with North Korea trip

Asked repeatedly if he had met Kim, Rodman said: "You'll find out".

When it works, "it's a brilliant propaganda coup", for the regime, he said.

Warmbier had been in a coma for more than a year, but this was only revealed by North Korea last week.

U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday what happened to a comatose American student released from North Korea this week is a "truly awful thing".

Doctors treating Warmbier in the US, where he arrived last week after being released by Pyongyang on "humanitarian grounds", said that the student is in "a state of unresponsive wakefulness", having suffered a severe brain injury, most likely due to a cardiopulmonary arrest.

Richardson said he is now urging the Trump White House to make sure the US government pays for Warmbier's care and ensures he has access to the nation's best doctors.

The "quiet diplomacy", as the State Department put it, came at a time of North Korean missile tests and increasing USA pressure on Kim Jong Un's totalitarian government. The goal of the talks was to negotiate the release of United States prisoners and to attempt to establish a diplomatic channel to constrain North Korea's nuclear and missile programs.

"He's in a coma and the North Koreans have a lot of explaining to do especially since he might have been in a coma for a year", Richardson told WTOP, Washington, Thursday.

UK's Hammond says economy should be priority in Brexit talks
That's raised speculation that she will seek a softer Brexit by trying to win continued access to Britain's biggest market. The Brexit Department said in a statement that the UK's withdrawal and future ties are "intimately linked".

"This is not a very good situation to try to improve the relationship with North Korea when they treat our people like this", Richardson said. The U.S. wouldn't publicly describe their condition.

From journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee to missionary Kenneth Bae, most Americans detained by the North have been released after high-profile interventions.

The condition that Warmbier was in could cause some problems for any ongoing talks between the USA and North Korea.

Former prisoners like Bae have spoken of long days of hard work, medical problems and emotional and verbal abuse, but other detainees have reported that conditions were tolerable.

Rodman also visited iconic North Korean monuments and coached a womens basketball team.

Rodmans previous trips to North Korea in 2013 and 2014 famously included a basketball play that he set up himself.

New details that emerged last week about Yun's brief visit to the North Korean capital illustrate the deep level of estrangement between the USA and North Korea, two countries that don't have diplomatic relations and have technically been in a state of war for more than half a century, despite the armistice that ended the Korean War.

"This will lead to a continued stalemate with more sanctions", Richardson said.
