IndyCar drivers welcome Alonso's Indianapolis bid

A win on the famed Brickyard oval would be sensational but the double world champion will still have to conquer the Le Mans 24 Hours sportscar race to match the unique Triple Crown achieved by the late Briton Graham Hill in 1972.

Fernando Alonso's Verizon IndyCar Series dance card is beginning to fill up. Alonso couldn't resist taking a jab at the two-time Indy 500 victor.

Alonso, who will miss this year's Monaco Grand Prix to compete in the Indy 500, will enter the race in a combined venture between McLaren, Honda and Andretti Autosport, with the latter heading up the team under the management of Michael Andretti, although McLaren will be sending a small group of staff to give Alonso some familiarity, as Brown explained.

"I want to win the triple crown", Alonso said.

"I need to go through different steps in this learning in two weeks time. I think there's so much interest all over the world, and it's going to be great for Formula One, great for IndyCar, great for the Indy 500, great for our team, great for McLaren".

Hildebrand broke a bone in the hand on Sunday, April 9, in a final-lap incident during the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

"On the planes, I will try and look at some videos and races from past years and try to learn as quick as I can", he said.

Bill O'Reilly is out at Fox News
Last July, Fox News's then chairman, Roger Ailes, was forced out amid allegations that he sexually harassed numerous women. O'Reilly on Wednesday blamed his ouster on "unfounded claims" hours after Fox News announced his departure.

He doesn't care if you're a Formula One fan, an IndyCar fan or anything else.

Asked if it would be fun to race against former Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya again, Alonso said with a smile, "I don't know if he will be in the front". "I think it's very, very cool that it's happening".

Brown said: "Everyone in pit lane who has a seat available would want to talk to him".

Alexander Rossi, last year's victor at IndyCar's biggest race, says "it's very, very cool".

Alonso is scheduled to arrive at Barber Motorsports Park ahead of Sunday's Indy Grand Prix of Alabama.

"But I didn't think that it was possible to attempt until I was retiring from F1".

Asked what he means by "real driver", the French Canadian explained: "Well, all you have to do is listen to what other drivers have said about his decision".
